CARIBBEAN STATISTICS DAY 2011 CELEBRATIONS

THEME:"Recognizing the Essential Role of Statistics in the Development of the Caribbean Community"

OVERVIEW

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat observed Caribbean Statistics Day 2011 on Friday, 14 October 2011 as agreed to by the Standing Committee of Caribbean Statisticians (SCCS) at its Thirty Fifth Meeting.

Expectations were that the observance of Caribbean Statistics Day would garner greater profile for statistics across the Community. While in previous years Caribbean Statistics Day was celebrated on 15 October, it was agreed by the SCCS that Caribbean Statistics Day 2011 would be observed on Friday, 14 October 2011, being the last working day prior to October 15, which fell on a Saturday that year.
