Registration now open for second virtual FAO/CARICOM course

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is launching another virtual course for the Caribbean region.

Registration has begun for the four-week Trade, Food Security and Nutrition course and will close on 4 June. The course begins on 28 June. It offers a capacity for 300 participants, preferably Government officials and public servants who are responsible for the formulation and implementation of agricultural and trade policies and programmes, and representatives of the private sector and academia.

The organisers said the course “invites us to strengthen countries’ capacity on how to ensure that the expansion of agricultural trade works in favour of eradicating hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition by addressing the linkages between trade and food security, which are highly complex and have been the subject of intense debate at national and global levels.”

Effective participation will require the interested party to:

• be available five to six hours per week for the reading and activities of the diploma course
• have computer and internet connection to access the virtual classroom, contents, on-line meetings, etc.
• knowledge of internet navigation, use of e-mail and online work tools such as Word, Power Point presentations, uploading and downloading files
